Clomiphene is an ovulatory stimulant that is used to treat female infertility and for certain conditions as determined by your physician. It helps to produce more hormones that cause your ovaries to release 1 or more eggs.

You should not use Clomiphene in case you have any condition mentioned below: you are allergic to any ingredient in Clomiphene; you are pregnant; you have abnormal vaginal bleeding; you have ovarian cysts (small growths on the ovaries) or enlargement not due to polycystic ovarian syndrome; you have or have ever had blockage of blood vessels (blood clots) in the legs, lungs, or other parts of the body; you have liver problems, uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal gland problems, or a brain lesion (eg, pituitary gland tumor).

In such cases it is obligatory to consult with your doctor or health care provider before taking this drug.

Before using Clomiphene:
Before using Clomiphene you should tell your doctor if you have any medical conditions listed below: you are planning to become pregnant or are breast-feeding a baby; you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances; you have depression, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, or uterine fibroids.

Be aware that Clomiphene may interact with some medicines. Consult with your health care provider in case you are taking any other drugs.

It may not be a complete list of all interactions with other drugs. To prevent any complications you should check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

How to use Clomiphene:
Take it as recommended by your physician. Clomiphene should be taken with or without food. It is important to have properly timed sexual intercourse. You should know that ovulation usually takes place 5 to 10 days after a dose of Clomiphene.

It is not recommended to take Clomiphene in case you have not become pregnant after 3 courses of treatment.

The ELDERLY are likely to be more sensitive to Clomiphene effects. Use it with caution in this group.

Do not use Clomiphene in CHILDREN as safety and effectiveness in children have not been proved.

It is possible to have multiple pregnancy (more than 1 fetus) while taking Clomiphene. Consult with your doctor the potential complications and hazards of it.

PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING:
You should not use Clomiphene in case you are or become pregnant. In case you could be pregnant, consult with your doctor. It is not clear whether Clomiphene passes into breast milk. Avoid breast-feeding a baby while using Clomiphene.

Possible side effects of Clomiphene:
You should consult with your doctor in case you have any of side effects especially bothersome listed below: blurred vision or vision problems (spots or flashes); breast tenderness; dizziness; enlarged breasts; enlargement of the ovaries; flushing; headache; hot flashes; lightheadedness; mood change; nausea; pelvic pain or bloating; stomach pain; vomiting.

Seek emergency immediately in case you have any of these severe side effects: severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue)increased risk of cancer of the ovaries; over stimulation of the ovaries; spontaneous abortion.
